Genesis: 

RFD was founded in 2017 on the wind swept plains of SE Idaho while completing my residency at the Family Medicine of Idaho- Magic Valley Rural Training Track (FMRI-MVRTT) in Twin Falls.

Mission: 

To promote, grow and sustain Rural Family Docs and the communities they serve.  

​

Goals: 

1. Improve rural medical access by increasing the number RFDs. 

2. Develop a community of aspiring and current RFDs to help support and sustain all who "Answer the call."

3. Improve quality and access to rural obstetric and maternity care. 

4. Help reinvigorate rural community development. 

5. Explore solutions to help prevent burnout and increase work-life balance of RFDs.

Implementation: 

Like medical school, the implementation of RFDs mission and goals will be more of a marathon than sprint.
